After working successfully with CBRE on a major shopping centre car park refurbishment in Inverness, Volkerlaser were requested to review urgent and essential maintenance proposals for this very busy shopping centre.
The structure of the centre was in a very poor state with significant repair work required to stonework, concrete, roofs, window frames, rainwater goods and the façade in general; the structure presented an immediate danger to passing public in the busyadjacent high street. After a detailed survey, VolkerLaser were pleased to compile a maintenance schedule of recommended work, as well as provide a budget proposal which was subsequently developed into a contract for the works.
Access to the façade was provided with a combination of fixed scaffold and, where possible, suspended cradles landing on a fan scaffold for protection of the public below. The façade repair works included stonework and concrete repairs and renewal of window frames. The whole façade was cleaned and given a significant heavy duty coating to protect it from further deterioration for many years to come. All the works were carried out on time and within the original budget. Most importantly, the shopping centre was able to remain in full operation throughout the contract with minimal disruption to normal trading.
