The Trussell Trust has a network of over 420 foodbanks, operating out of more than 1,200 centres across the UK, providing a minimum of three days’ emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis.

Staff from VolkerLaser’s office in Runcorn decided to donate the lunch money they saved from attending the annual VolkerLaser Christmas conference on Friday 7 December and the additional day holiday on Christmas Eve.

With one of the Trussell Trust foodbanks located close to the Runcorn office, the staff have seen the positive impact these facilities have in the local community and were delighted to help make a difference with their donation at a crucial time of the year.

Nicola Wilkinson, administration assistant for the estimating team in Runcorn, who organised the collection said: “When you think about Christmas and how much everyone spends on presents and food, especially at that time of year, it also makes you think of those less fortunate than ourselves.

“I and some of my colleagues based at the Runcorn office decided to have a collection for the local foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust. We were delighted to raise £135 and donate this to the foodbank before Christmas.”
