VolkerLaser donate to two charities following the 14,000 mile challenge

Recent

Last year, colleagues from across VolkerLaser completed a 14,000 mile challenge for charity.

At the end of 2021, when the JustGiving page was closed, the team had raised £3,550, which has now been split equally, and donated to two charities – The Lighthouse Club and the Construction Youth Trust.

During the challenge, the team of 56 walked, ran, cycled, and swam a massive total of 14,654 miles in various locations across the UK. The challenge was organised to follow the world’s longest continuous walkable route, which ‘in real life’ starts out in Cape Town and finishes up in Magadan, Russia.

It was initiated by two of the business’ working groups – PALS (a health and safety group) and the mental health forum. They wanted to create a challenge which would get colleagues out and about, and moving each day, as well as working as a team - all whilst raising money for two fantastic charities.

The Lighthouse Club is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

Construction Youth Trust is a charity whose aim is to inspire and enable young people to overcome barriers and discover a career in the construction and built environment sector.

Well done to everyone involved!
