Contracted by client, Highways England, VolkerLaser will deliver maintenance works on the M5 at Oldbury. VolkerLaser is familiar to the M5, where they were part of the largest concrete repair project carried out in the UK on the Oldbury Viaduct.

The scope of the works is broken down into three packages the first with a value of approximately £4.5m. All of the works will take place under the viaduct itself, and will include a range of specialist services including hydro-demolition, concrete repairs, cathodic protection installation and spray applied concrete.

Now on site, the VolkerLaser team will start designing a suitable temporary works system, whilst also considering environmental controls and measures needed to be in place, throughout the duration of our works.

VolkerLaser’s project manager, James Ross, said: “The project has been an exciting and challenging one to plan over the past few months at tender stage, but we are now on site, mobilising, with a great team, ready to produce some quality works for our client Highways England”

Works on the project are set to continue until spring 2022.
