The challenge saw business development manager Becky, free-air abseil a 100ft drop from the iconic Kessock Bridge, landing in the picturesque village of North Kessock.

The abseil was the first fundraising event in 19 months for Highland Hospice, and saw 440 people participating over two days, raising over £150,000 between them.

Community fundraiser for Highland Hospice, Emma Nicol, said, “The atmosphere at the event was incredible, and we are delighted with the success of it.

“Huge thanks to the community of North Kessock for having us, everyone who volunteered at the event, and our amazing sponsors: Ord Industrial & Commercial Supplies and McDonald Scaffolding,

Alba Traffic Management, Highland Temporary Works Ltd, BEAR Scotland, Big Bang Promotions, RNLI, and Harry Gow for supplying lunches to the team, Tesco Metro for tea, coffee, juice and biscuits – and the North Kessock ticket office who kindly donated 50 per cent of their profits over the two days to us.

“Abseilers of all ages undertook the challenge, travelling from the North of Scotland to the South of England to participate. We had some abseilers who were visually impaired, as well as one of the Hospice’s Wellbeing Group patients. This really was an all-inclusive event.”

Becky said: “The abseil was such a brilliant experience! It was great to play a part in supporting a charity that helps so many, and it was a privilege to speak to so many amazing people throughout the day.”

Highland Hospice provides specialist care and support to terminally ill patients and their families. Specially trained staff focus on the individuals and put the needs of them, and their families at the centre of decision-making. Crucially, the team also offers advice with the emotional, social and spiritual issues that may arise, and work with patients, families and carers, at a time of transition, to help them enjoy, value and commemorate life.
