New apprentices begin their journey with VolkerLaser
Yesterday marked an exciting milestone as we officially welcomed 13 trainee operative apprentices to the business, following a nationwide recruitment campaign that attracted significant interest from aspiring construction professionals.
The search for our newest apprentices began during National Apprenticeship Week in February, when applications opened for what proved to be a highly sought-after opportunity. The response was exceptional, with more than 200 applications received from candidates across the country.
From there, our team embarked on a nationwide recruitment process, travelling to multiple locations to host assessment centres and meet candidates face-to-face. Following a rigorous selection process designed to identify individuals with the right attitude, potential and commitment, 13 successful applicants were chosen to join the programme.
The new recruits will now embark on a bespoke trainee operative apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). The programme has been specially designed to provide a blend of classroom-based learning and practical, hands-on experience, enabling apprentices to develop the technical skills and industry knowledge needed for a successful career in construction.
Throughout their apprenticeship, the trainees will gain valuable experience across a range of operational areas within the business, giving them a unique opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues while building a comprehensive understanding of how our projects are delivered.
As they begin this exciting new chapter, the apprentices represent the next generation of talent within our business, and we look forward to supporting them as they develop their skills, grow their confidence and build rewarding careers.
āA proud and exciting moment for our early careers programme with the launch of our first-ever trainee operative apprenticeship programme. We're thrilled to welcome 13 new colleagues to begin their journey with us, bringing fresh talent, new perspectives, and helping shape the future of our business."
Lorraine Frankland Head of HR, VolkerLaser
āIām really proud of what the business has achieved in kicking this programme off. The new skills that these apprentices will learn are key to delivering the structural refurbishment projects that are vital to keeping our national infrastructure operational.ā
Ben Joyce Managing Director, VolkerLaser
Welcome to the team, and good luck to all 13 apprentices as they start their journey with us.
