Sustainability
At VolkerLaser, we are committed to the responsible and professional management of the environment during our construction works, and to making sustainable choices during the planning stages of our projects in order to reduce our environmental impact wherever we can.

We are certified to ISO 14001 and actively demonstrate a proactive approach to environmental protection. As well as ensuring sustainable choices are made throughout the lifecycle of a project, from tender to delivery, we also encourage our teams to get involved in activities that will positively impact the environment.
We've been involved in a number of tree planting initiatives, beach cleans, removed debris from river beds, and undertaken various volunteering activities to improve habitats for local wildlife.

Great British Beach Clean
Five volunteers from our southern teams joined National Highways and our supply chain partners to help litter pick on Whitstable Beach in Kent, as part of the Great British Beach Clean. Each year, more than 5,000 people take part collecting over 4,000kgs of rubbish across 10 days of activity.

Beggarwood Woodland Park Local Nature Reserve
Our team spent the day at Beggarwood Woodland Park Local Nature Reserve, helping park rangers with a habitat restoration project. Over the day, they helped with thicket thinning, removed blackthorn and created brash piles from the green waste all in a bid to ensure the natural habitat remains healthy and can support a variety of wildlife.

Tree planting for the Mary Hare School for Deaf Children
We joined a 60-strong volunteer group to plant trees at a school local to one of our projects. Over the course of the day, 1,500 trees were planted across 230 metres, with a goal of establishing a new hedgerow knitting together existing hedgerows from Arlington Lane, along the Oxford Road to the Millennium Woods.
