Measuring 45 metres in length, Fairview Avenue Bridge carries local traffic over the A287 Hoath Way Road. The full scope of works included concrete and crack repairs, followed by the application of a protective surface treatment.

Starting in January 2026, VolkerLaser began concrete repairs to the soffit and bridge deck, followed by a series of crack repairs. Once these works were completed the surface was treated with an MCI coating, which was sprayed over the bridge deck to prevent the penetration of water through the concrete. Vehicle mounted Mobile Elevating Platforms (MEWPs) were used to access the bridge, meaning the use of scaffolding was not needed, keeping disruption to a minimum. To further reduce impact on the local community, the team carried out works overnight, avoiding daytime road closures.

In addition to the main scope of works, four of our team members used their volunteering hours to address vandalism on the central piers, as part of our commitment to social value to maintain and enhance the surrounding environment. To improve the appearance, the team cleaned and repainted the piers with materials supplied by our client VolkerHighways.

Despite persistent, inclement weather that made it necessary for the team to change their sequence of work, the project was completed ahead of schedule on 18 February 2026.
